MARKET WATCH: NYMEX oil futures prices down on day before end of year

The New York Mercantile Exchange February crude contract fell $1.03 on Dec. 30 to close at $99.29/bbl. The March contract also was down to settle at $99.43/bbl, off 96¢.

Heating oil for January delivery dropped 4.7¢ to settle at a rounded $3.08/gal. Reformulated gasoline stock for oxygenate blending for January delivery was down 2.8¢ to a rounded $2.79/gal.

The February natural gas contract on NYMEX increased less than a penny to settle at a rounded $4.43/MMbtu. On the US spot market, the gas price at Henry Hub, La., rose 7.3¢ Dec. 30 to a rounded $4.40/MMbtu.

In London, the February ICE contract for Brent crude oil fell 97¢ to close at $111.21/bbl. The ICE gas oil contract for January was down $10.25 to settle at $945.50/tonne.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ basket of 12 benchmark crudes closed at $108.57/bbl on Dec. 30, down 78¢ from the previous day.
