Fire hits at Sinclair refinery in Wyoming

Sinclair Oil Corp.’s 66,000-b/d Sinclair, Wyo., refinery is operating at near-to-normal rates after a fire at the plant on Dec. 6.

The fire, which broke out at about 3:30 a.m. at the plant’s alkylation unit, was extinguished by the refinery’s fire department at 10 a.m., with no injuries occurring, the company told OGJ via e-mail.

While Sinclair said the refinery continues to operate at rates similar to those prior to the incident, further details regarding throughputs were not disclosed.

The company has notified Wyoming Occupational Safety & Health Administration, and an investigation of the incident is now underway, according to Sinclair.
