BG Group’s Queensland Curtis LNG project has begun the commissioning phase and expects to produce first gas to the liquefaction plant by yearend.
The project is on time and within its Phase 1 $20.4 million (Aus.) budget. The entire pipeline from the coal seam gas (CSG) fields in the Surat-Bowen basins has been laid and is undergoing testing.
Hydrotesting has been followed by gas flowing from the Kenya central processing plant (CPP) into the gas collection header system.
BG says the pipeline section across the Narrows—a short stretch of water between the mainland and Curtis Island—also has been completed.
On the project’s upstream side, three of the planned six field compressor stations and the one CPP in the Ruby Jo block are scheduled to begin commissioning next month.
Some 1,700 wells have been drilled in the feeder gas fields and the exploration-appraisal program is continuing with production testing of two pilot CSG wells in the Bowen basin. In addition, a seismic survey of Bowen basin deep sands will begin shortly.
