Taipan Resources names Logan as exploration manager

Taipan Resources Inc., Nairobi, Kenya, which operates in Kenya through its fully owned Lion Petroleum Corp. subsidiary, has named Paul Logan as exploration manager.

Taipan Resources Inc., Nairobi, Kenya, which operates in Kenya through its fully owned Lion Petroleum Corp. subsidiary, has named Paul Logan as exploration manager.

Logan previously was chief geologist at Heritage Oil PLC as part of the team that discovered 1.75 billion bbl of oil in the Albert basin on Uganda blocks 1 and 3A and more than 9 tcf of gas at Miran field in Kurdistan.

Logan has more than 36 years of experience in exploration with British Gas, Getty Oil, Hamilton Oil, BHP Billiton, and Heritage Oil.

The Heritage-operated blocks In Uganda yielded six discoveries in 2006-09 including world-class Kingfisher, Warthog, and Buffalo-Giraffe fields. Two Kingfisher field wells tested at more than 12,000 b/d, and Buffalo-Giraffe field is considered the largest onshore oil field discovered in Sub-Saharan Africa in more than 2 decades.
