Sunshine Oilsands Ltd. said it received final approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator for its Thickwood project (OGJ Online, Jan. 17, 2013). The Thickwood project is Sunshine’s second 10,000 b/d, steam-assisted gravity drainage commercial development.
The Thickwood project area holds about 163 million bbl of proved plus probable reserves, and about 341 million bbl of best-estimate contingent resource, Sunshine said. The company believes that Thickwood could potentially support production of about 70,000 b/d.
