Statoil has named Jez Averty as senior vice-president, exploration, for North America. Averty currently serves as vice-president, exploration, for the Gulf of Mexico. Averty succeeds Eric Finnstrom in this position.
Previously, Averty has worked in northwest Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa for various companies. He has 20 years of experience, having started his career as a geologist with Amoco (UK) Exploration in London.
Averty was among initiators of Statoil’s entry into the Angolan pre-salt.
