Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. has tested gas-condensate from the Lower Basal sands of the Cretaceous Lower Goru formation in the Sanghar District of Sindh Province, Pakistan, 145 miles northeast of Karachi.

PPL, operator of Hala Block 2568-13, said the Adam X-1 discovery well flowed 14.3 MMcfd of gas and 125 b/d of oil through a 40/64-in. choke and is to be placed on production immediately. Total depth is 3,450 m.

The Lower Goru has produced in the area, north of dozens of discoveries in the Lower Indus basin by the former Union Texas Petroleum Group in the 1970s-80s, and is considered to have considerable further potential (OGJ, Jan. 14, 2002, p. 37).

PPL operates the Hala block with 65% working interest and Mari Petroleum Co. has 35%.
