Statoil lets contract for Snohvit CO2 work

By OGJ editors

Statoil has let a contract to Technip for pipeline and subsea installations related to an additional carbon dioxide injection well at a new CO2 injection template at Snohvit gas and condensate field in the Barents Sea offshore Norway.

Snohvit, in 250-345 m of water, produces through subsea wells into a 143-km, multiphase pipeline that carries well fluids to the Meloyka processing facility onshore. Dry gas is liquefied for export. Separated CO2 is piped back to the field for reinjection into a reservoir below producing strata.

For the new CO2 injector, Technip will fabricate and install two, 5-km, 13% chrome stainless steel flowlines and a 5-km CO2 injection flowline. It also will install and tie in spools, jumpers, and umbilicals and install a new combined production and injection template and manifold.

Snohvit production totals last year were 5.36 billion standard cu m of gas, 270,000 tones of natural gas liquids, and 860,000 standard cu m of condensate.

Statoil, operator, holds a 36.79% interest. Other interests are Petoro 30%, Total E&P Norge 18.4, GDF Suez E&P Norge 12%, and RWE Dea Norge 2.81%.
