Oman Oil Co. Exploration & Production has let a contract to National Petroleum Construction Co. of Abu Dhabi for two offshore pipelines serving a gas plant under construction in the Musandam area of Oman.
A multiphase pipeline will carry well fluids from the West Bukha platform operated by DNO International offshore Oman to the Musandam plant (OGJ Online, July 18, 2012). The other pipeline, also offshore, will carry sales gas from Musandam to Saqr Port in Ras Al Khaimah.
NPCC will lay a total of 30 km of pipeline in water as deep as 90 km.
Hyundai Engineering Co., Seoul, is handling engineering, procurement, and construction of the gas plant, which will have a rated inlet capacity of 20,000 b/d of crude oil, 45 MMscfd of natural gas, and 80 tonnes/day of LPG. Gas treatment will yield 50 tonnes/day of sulfur.
Processed crude oil will be loaded onto tankers through a single-point mooring system. LPG will be trucked from the plant.
Commercial operation is to begin in the second quarter of 2014.
