ExxonMobil Corp. has started producing ethylene from the second steam cracker at its Singapore chemical complex (OGJ Online, Dec. 28, 2012).
The expansion added 2.6 million tonnes/year of finished product capacity, doubling capacity of the complex.
Over the next few weeks, ExxonMobil said, the complex will increase production from three polyethylene plants, two polypropylene plants, a specialty metallocene elastomers unit, and expanded oxo-alcohol and aromatics units.
The expansion provides what the company described in a press statement as “unparalleled feedstock flexibility in the industry.”
The complex is powered by a 375-Mw cogeneration plant.
