Iroquois lets contract for Wright Interconnect expansion

Iroquois Gas Transmission System LP let an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contract to Gulf Interstate Engineering Co. for its 650-MMcfd Wright Interconnect natural gas pipeline expansion. Project scope involves adding compression including associated inlet gas filtering, exit cooling, gas mixing, odorization, metering, flow control, and modification of existing station piping to allow limited backup between the new and existing compression units.

The Wright Interconnect will move natural gas from the end of the proposed Constitution Gas Pipeline in Schoharie County, NY, into the Iroquois and Tennessee Gas Pipeline systems under a 15-year capacity lease agreement with Constitution. Leasing Wright capacity allows Constitution to eliminate the need for a newbuild compression facility as part of its construction (OGJ Online, Jan. 25, 2013).

Iroquois expects the expansion to enter service March 2015 to coincide with Constitution’s startup.

Constitution is owned by Williams Partners LP 51%, Cabot Oil & Gas 25%, and Piedmont Natural Gas 24%.
