Intra Isongo flows rich condensate offshore Cameroon

Bowleven PLC said its Isongo Marine-5 well on Block MLHP-7 of the Etinde permit offshore Cameroon has exceeded expectations and that the company targets the final investment decision by the end of 2013 for a phased gas-condensate development.

Middle and Intra Isongo intervals flow-tested at combined maximum commercial flow rates of 60 MMscfd of gas and 7,819 b/d of condensate.

IM-5, drilled to 3,430 m measured depth in 56 m of water, encountered 70 m of log-evaluated net hydrocarbon-bearing pay over an 80-m gross interval in Intra Isongo. It was drilled to appraise Middle Isongo reservoir and fluid properties and to explore Intra Isongo potential.

Bowleven drillstem tested a 29-m perforated section of Intra Isongo at an average 37 MMscfd and 4,664 b/d on a 1-in. choke. The test rate peaked at more than 40 MMscfd. The average rate implies a condensate-gas ratio of 125 bbl/MMscf, and CGRs as high as 133 bbl/MMscf were achieved.

The IM-5 Intra Isongo DST flow period totaled 48 hr on various choke sizes within an overall test duration of several days.

Further liquids including liquefied petroleum gases can be recovered via secondary processing, Bowleven noted. Further analysis of test data is required, but the company expects that optimized Intra Isongo development well locations and completions are likely to lead to production rates well in excess of 40 MMscfd/well.

IM-5 is being suspended as a future development-production well and the Atwood Aurora jack up released.

Bowleven said the high deliverabilities likely will reduce the number of wells required to supply the planned onshore fertilizer plant.

“In addition to proving that there are more than sufficient gas volumes present on a P90 basis to meet the 70 MMscfd dry gas requirements of the fertilizer plant, the IM-5 well has derisked considerable further prospectivity with significant volumetric upside on the block,” the company said.
