Development drilling adds oil at India's Kharsang field

The second development well at Kharsang field in Arunachal Pradesh, India, has encountered 12 potentially hydrocarbon-bearing sands, the deepest of which could be on production in as soon as 2 weeks, said Jubilant Energy NV.

Meanwhile, the joint venture has spudded KPL-3E-6, in the central part of the field and the third well in the six-well development drilling campaign. It is designed to exploit untapped hydrocarbons between the KSG-11 and KSG-25 wells.

The second well, KSG-66, previously named KPL-3E-4, was successfully drilled to a revised target depth of 1,128 m measured depth, 1,047 m true vertical depth. Seven of the 12 zones appear to be oil-bearing with 30.33 m of combined net pay.

GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd., a joint venture of GeoPetrol and Jubilant Enpro, a member of the wider Jubilant Bhartia Group, is operator of Kharsang field. Jubilant holds a 25% interest in the block through its subsidiary, Jubilant Energy (Kharsang) Pvt. Ltd. Oil India Ltd. and GeoPetrol are the other members of the group.
