ExxonMobil Corp. reported the start-up of Telok natural gas field offshore Malaysia, production from which will peak at 370 MMcfd, according to earlier disclosures by the company.
Production began from the Telok A platform, the first of two four-legged, unstaffed satellite platforms involved in the development about 124 miles off eastern Peninsular Malaysia. Gas flows via a new 16-mile pipeline to the Guntong E platform for processing.
Fourteen development wells total are planned to be drilled from the platforms.
ExxonMobil operates the field in a 50-50 joint venture with state-owned Petronas Carigali under a production-sharing contract.
