Seaway Crude Oil Pipeline Co. LLC is completing final pump station connections in preparation for increasing capacity to roughly 400,000 b/d from 150,000 b/d. Seaway suspended transportation service on the 500-mile, 30-in. OD pipeline to perform the work and expects to resume full operations by the end of next week.
Seaway is a 50-50 joint venture owned by affiliates of Enterprise Products Partners and Enbridge Inc. In addition to the Cushing-Gulf Coast pipeline, the Seaway system consists of a terminal and distribution network originating in Texas City, Tex., serving refineries locally and in the Houston area, and dock facilities at Freeport and Texas City.
Enbridge is also increasing the size and capacity of its Flanagan South Project between Flanagan, Ill., and a connection with Seaway at Cushing. The company currently operates the 193,300 b/d Spearhead Pipeline along this route. The 600-mile, 36-in. OD Flanagan South line will open mid-2014 with 600,000 b/d capacity, expandable to 800,000 b/d.
