Petroleo Brasileiro SA has submitted commerciality declarations to Brazil’s ANP for the 100% owned Aruana and Oliva postsalt oil and gas accumulations on Block C-M-401 of the BM-C-36 concession in the Campos basin offshore Brazil.
Petrobras estimated 230 million bbl of oil equivalent to be recoverable from Aruana, to be renamed Tartaruga Verde, and 121 million boe from Oliva, to be called Tartaruga Mestica.
Tartaruga Verde is at 2,993 m in 976 m of water 127 km off Macae in Rio de Janeiro state with an oil-water contact at minus 3,123 m. Tartaruga Mestica, 0.5 km northeast of Tartaruga Verde, is at 2,870 m in 934 m of water and has an oil-water contact at 3,064 m. Both have good quality 27° gravity oil in Albian carbonates.
Petrobras has also sent ANP the final report of the Discovery Assessment Plan-PAD (1-BRSA-713-RJS discovery well) spudded in 2010 and resulting in the delimitation of the two accumulations.
During the assessment period five wells were drilled, three in Tartaruga Verde and two in Tartaruga Mestica. In addition to this exploratory work, four cased-hole drillstem tests and two extended well tests (EWT) were carried out. The EWT results indicated excellent productivity and revealed information on the characteristics of the reservoirs that will be essential for optimizing development plans, Petrobras said.
Petrobras submitted the declarations of commerciality more than 6 months ahead of the June 30, 2013, deadline in the assessment plan, moving up the expected start of production to 2017, in line with the company’s 2012-16 business and management plan.
