Suncor's fourth Firebag phase starts up

Suncor Energy’s Firebag in situ production complex in the oil sands region of Alberta was producing 130,000 b/d of bitumen at the end of November following start-up of the project’s fourth phase.

Suncor Energy’sFirebag in situ production complex in the oil sands region of Alberta was producing 130,000 b/d of bitumen at the end of November following start-up of the project’s fourth phase.

The company earlier reported production at the end of the third quarter of 120,000 b/d from the first three phases (OGJ Online, Oct. 23, 2012).

When the fourth phase reaches full production, total Firebag output will be 180,000 b/d.

Suncor owns 100% of the Firebag complex, which is east of Fort McMurray.
