Oil has started to flow through pipelines linking fields held by Beach Energy and its partners to the Moomba processing facility in South Australia.
The new pipelines will take pressure off the previous trucking arrangements that were subject to disruption by flooding. Beach and its partners will now be able to maintain continuity of supply regardless of weather conditions.
Beach says the links between Growler and Lycium fields (Beach 40%, Senex 60%), Callawonga and Lycium (Beach 75%, Cooper Energy 25%) and Lycium and Moomba (Beach 60%, Senex 40%) have been completed and oil is now flowing to Moomba. The production will be scaled up during the next few weeks.
The Callawonga to Tantanna flowline has been operating for 4 years and was linked to Lycium in October. A Bauer-to-Lycium line is under construction and should be completed during first-quarter 2013. First flow is expected during 2013’s second quarter.
It is probable trucks will still be used beyond Callawonga once the recently completed Butlers and Christies development wells are connected.
The Lycium-to-Moomba line is expected to transport more than 20,000 bo/d.
