Carnarvon find is Chevron's 15th offshore Australia

Chevron Corp. said its Satyr-2 well in the Greater Gorgon area of the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia found 128 ft of net gas pay on the WA-374-P permit 75 miles northwest of Barrow Island.

Chevron Corp. said its Satyr-2 well in the Greater Gorgon area of the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia found 128 ft of net gas pay on the WA-374-P permit 75 miles northwest of Barrow Island.

Drilled to 12,454 ft in 3,570 ft of water, Satyr is the company’s 15th discovery in Australia since mid-2009.

Chevron Australia is block operator with a 50% interest. Shell and Exxon Mobil each hold 25%.
