GSPL India Transco Ltd. (GITL) has awarded an engineering, procurement, and project management contract to Engineers India Ltd (EIL) for the 2,000-km Mallavaram-Bhopal- Bhilwara-Vijaipur natural gas pipeline (MBBVPL) project.

MBBVPL consists of roughly 1,650 km of trunk line and 350 km of spur lines, along with dispatch and receiving terminals, intermediate pigging stations, sectionalizing valve and tap-off stations, telecom and supervisory control and data acquisition stations, metering facilities, and a cathodic protection system.

The pipeline will transport 27.8 billion cu m/year of gas from the D6 gas fields in Krishna Godavari basin on the east coast of Andhra Pradesh to Bhilwara, Rajasthan, crossing 27 districts in four states: Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. GITL expects the project to be completed in 30 months, roughly February 2015.

EIL will provide engineering consultancy services including preparation of a business enterprise program and request for proposals, project management consultancy, and construction supervision services, in addition acting as the owner’s engineer. EIL shall also be responsible for materials management, quality assurance, and assistance in pre-commissioning and commissioning of MBBVPL.

GAIL (India) Ltd. dedicated its 2,200-km Dahej-Vijaipur-Dadri-Bawana-Nangal-Bhatinda natural gas pipeline earlier this year (OGJ Online, Mar. 27, 2012).
