Group to explore block offshore Ukraine

The Ukrainian government has announced the award of a production-sharing agreement to a group led by ExxonMobil Corp. for exploration and development of a block designated Skifska in the Black Sea.

Water depths in the block, between the Ukraine-Romania border and the Crimean peninsula, are 100-2,000 m (OGJ Online, July 14, 2005).

Other interests in the license are held by Royal Dutch Shell PLC; Petrom of Bucharest, which is 51% owned by OMV of Austria; and Nadra Ukraiyny of Ukraine.

Award of the license is subject to an official resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
