Eni International BV will acquire a 50% interest from a unit of Essar Energy PLC and become operator of Block 114 in the Song Hong basin offshore Vietnam, subject to government approval.
The work program includes shooting 3D seismic and drilling two wells on the 5,900 sq km block. Further investment is required to establish gas reserves in the block, Essar said.
The deal will expand Eni’s presence in the basin, where on June 25 it signed agreements to acquire blocks 105-110/04 and 120.
