Marathon Oil Norge AS has let a contract to Technip for an ongoing expansion of subsea drill centers at Kneler B and Volund in the Alvheim area offshore Norway in the North Sea.

The contract includes engineering, fabrication, installation, and diving tie-ins of pipeline spools, including protection covers and installation of a manifold.

Remotely operated vehicle and divers will do the subsea work in 120 m of water using the Skandi Arctic, a Technip diving support vessel. The offshore construction work is scheduled for 2012-13.

Marathon started production from Alvheim oil field in mid-2008 via a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (OGJ Online, June 11, 2008).
