Petronas Floating LNG 1 Ltd. has signed an equipment and process license agreement with Air Products, Lehigh Valley, Pa. The agreement covers installation of LNG technology and equipment aboard a floating LNG production platform about 112 miles off Bintulu, Sarawak.

When the Petronas Floating LNG Project 1 (PFLNG 1) begins operating in late-2015, it will be able to produce 1.2 million tonnes/year.

PFLNG 1 will use Air Products’ AP-N LNG process and equipment, which includes coil-wound heat exchangers and compressor-expanders, both to be assembled the US, and economizer cold boxes to be built in Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia.

AP-N LNG is a nitrogen recycle LNG process; this will be its initial use. Its development, said the Air Products’ announcement, builds on implementation of the nitrogen-recycle section of Air Products' AP-X LNG process and equipment that have been operating for more than 3 years in Qatar.
