Poland: Expanded block includes unproduced gas field

San Leon Energy PLC said Poland’s Ministry of Environment has merged the Rawicz and Winsko concessions in the Permian/SW Carboniferous basin of Poland and expanded the total concession area.

The concession now covers 183,352 acres and includes previously discovered but unproduced Rawicz gas field in the Permian Main dolomite and Rotliegendes formations. The company estimates that Rawicz contains as much as 17 bcf of recoverable, high-quality methane in the Rotliegendes formation with potential upside for oil and gas production the Zechstein Main dolomite.

San Leon’s NovaSeis subsidiary  plans to shoot 120 sq km of 3D seismic over the gas field in the fourth quarter of 2012 and drill an appraisal well in mid-2013. Production could start in the third quarter of 2013.
