Colombia gets Llanos basin Mirador oil discovery

By OGJ editors

P1 Energy Corp., private Calgary independent, said it has an oil discovery on the LLA-32 block in Colombia’s Llanos basin.

The Maniceno-1 well was spudded on Mar. 2, 2012, and after a sidetrack of the original wellbore reached 11,027 ft measured total depth on Apr. 18. It targeted the Mirador and Une formations, and log interpretations in the Mirador indicate more than 50 ft of net pay.

The top 14 ft were perforated at 10,750-764 ft and production tested on jet pump at an average 7,280 b/d of 25° gravity oil and less than 5% basic sediment and water on a 4-hr test. The maximum flow obtained was 9,512 b/d in 1-hr of the 4-hr period.

The well also flowed naturally at an average 3,036 b/d of oil in a 6-hr period with downhole restrictions due to the jet pump assembly. The company noted that the initial test rates are not necessarily indicative of long-term production rates.

P1 plans to install a high volume electric submersible pump before releasing the drilling rig to spud Samaria Norte-1, the second of two commitment exploratory wells on the block, in late May to target the same two formations.

P1 has a 50% working interest that it anticipates becoming a 40% working interest pending the submission and approval of an assignment of a 10% interest to an undisclosed third party.
