China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd. awarded a pipeline installation contract to Technip for the Liwan 3-1 shallow-water project in the China Sea’s Pearl River Mouth basin 300 km south of Hong Kong. The 260-km pipeline will link the Liwan gas platform to China National Offshore Oil Corp.’s Gaolan gas plant.

Technip’s contract covers the shallow-water portion of the development, including installation of 160 km of 30-in. OD two-phase oil-gas export pipeline from the Liwan platform to a water depth of 70 m.

Technip will execute the contract from its operating center in Singapore, in liaison with its project engineering office in Shekou, China, and expects to finish work by yearend. Global 1201 will install the pipeline.

Husky Energy Inc. sanctioned development of Liwan 3-1 last year (OGJ Online, Sept. 20, 2011).
