Shell Gas Iraq BV has let a $60 million contract to ABB, Zurich, for a power plant in southern Iraq that will deliver electricity to gas processing facilities as part of the Iraqi South Gas Project.
The Khor Al Zubair project is part of an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to build a 50 Mw power plant that will feed electricity to the facilities of the Basrah Gas Co.

ABB’s scope of supply for the plant includes process control systems, fire and gas, and emergency shutdown systems, power management systems, step-up and distribution transformers, medium- and low-voltage power equipment, and site utilities such as the diesel generator, flare control and compressed air system.
