Premier Oil PLC said it has deepened the Anoa WL-5x development well on Natuna Sea Block A offshore Indonesia to a total depth of 11,012 ft to evaluate the potential of the Eocene-Oligocene Lama formation.
The well encountered 300 ft of tight, fractured Lama formation sandstone. It is not possible to determine from the existing logs whether the fractures contain movable gas. Subject to partner approval, the plan is to test the Lama interval later this month.
The next exploratory well to be drilled on the block will be at Biawak Besar, which is expected to spud in March 2012.
Premier operates Natuna Sea Block A with 28.67% interest. Partners are Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co. 33.33%, Hess Corp. 23%, and Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Bhd. 15%.
