BAM Clough wins Wheatstone jetty project

The BAM International-Clough Ltd. engineering and construction joint venture was awarded a$400 million (Aus.) jetty design and construction contract from contractor Bechtel for the Wheatstone LNG project offshore Western Australia operated by Chevron Australia.

The work is for an LNG product loading facility and tug bearth near Onslow. The contract includes design and construction of a 1.2km jetty with an operations platform and product-loading platform with a single LNG and condensate bert along with associated piping modules and insulation.

The 50:50 joint venture expects the contract will employ 200 workers at peak. Engineering procurement and planning will begin immediately with construction in Onslow expected to begin in the third quarter 2013. The contract is scheduled for completion during the fourth quarter 2016.
