Wyoming: Comments sought on Uinta 3D survey

The US Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on a proposed 3D seismic project in Uinta County southeast of Lyman and Mountain View, Wyo., BLM’s Kemmerer, Wyo., field office said on Jan. 20.

A notice said the BLM will accept comments through Mar. 2 for an environmental assessment it is preparing, and will hold a public meeting on the proposed Uinta 3D project on Jan. 31 in Lyman, Wyo.

BLM said that the project’s proponent, which it did not identify, would use Vibroseis and shot hole methodologies in a 151 sq mile area of BLM, US Forest Service, and private land. If approved, operations would begin in late summer 2012 and would be completed within 10-12 weeks, it said.
