  • 05/09/2012 -- Marathon to buy private Eagle Ford producer
    Marathon Oil Corp. will buy Eagle Ford shale play participant Paloma Partners II LLC, Houston, for $750 million, Paloma Partners said.
  • 05/03/2012 -- Ultra further cuts spending, boosts production
    The board of Ultra Petroleum Corp., Houston, has approved a further $100 million reduction in the previously approved $925 million capital budget for 2012 in light of continued deterioration in natural gas prices, but the company still expects its production to increase on the year.
  • 04/20/2012 -- Uinta due $200 million oil shale joint venture
    French, Canadian, and private US companies are set to launch a $200 million joint venture to develop oil shale in the Uinta basin of Utah.

    Denbury Resources Inc., Plano, Tex., estimated its production in the quarter ended Mar. 31 to have been 71,532 b/d of oil equivalent, 93% oil and an 8% increase from the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2011.

    Newton Energy Capital Ltd. has completed its first coalbed methane exploratory test well on the Kutai West CBM PSC area in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, said CBM Asia Development Corp., Vancouver, BC, which has an 18% interest in the PSC.

    Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP will build the world’s largest on-purpose 1-hexene plant at its Cedar Bayou Chemical Complex in Baytown, Tex., using proprietary technology.
