    BP PLC has canceled plans to build a commercial-scale plant in Highlands County, Fla., that was to have made fuel ethanol from cellulose.
  • 10/24/2012 -- Bosnia and Herzegovina refinery due upgrade
    Rafinerija Nafte Brod, operator of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s only refinery, will use technologies from Honeywell’s UOP LLC and ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Co. (EMRE) in an upgrade of its 240,000 b/d facility at Brod.

    Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co., a joint venture of Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical Co., has awarded a contract to JGC Gulf International Co. Ltd. to expand ethylene capacity at Petro Rabigh’s refinery and chemicals complex on the Red Sea.
  • 10/18/2012 -- Total joint venture awards Shetland gas plant contract
    Total E&P UK Ltd. and DONG E&P (UK) Ltd., partners in developing Laggan and Tormore fields west of the Shetland Islands, have awarded a 3-year operations and maintenance contract to Aker Solutions, Houston, at the Shetland gas plant (OGJ, Dec. 6, 2010, p. 60).
  • 10/18/2012 -- Sadara names chief executive officer
    Sadara Chemical Co. has appointed Ziad S. Al-Labban as chief executive officer. He succeeds Ali A. Abuali who will retire.
  • 10/16/2012 -- Alberta gas plant completes expansion
    Birchcliff Energy Ltd., Calgary, has completed the third-phase expansion of its wholly owned and operated Pouce Coupe South Gas Plant and begun operations. The expansion began processing gas about 1 month ahead of schedule, the company reported.
