• 01/20/2012 -- RIL details KG D6 production declines, cites complexity
  Reliance Industries Ltd., Mumbai, has blamed “reservoir complexity and natural decline in reserves” for disappointing production of crude oil and natural gas from the KG D6 block, which has yielded a series of large discoveries in deep water offshore eastern India (OGJ Online, Sept. 9, 2011).

  US oil and gas drilling rig activity this week increased by 21 units to reach 2,008 total rigs working. The rig count for the week ended Jan. 20 was up by 295 from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.

  Murphy Oil Corp., El Dorado, Ark., said it will take a $370 million noncash charge to fourth quarter 2011 earnings related to Azurite oil field offshore Congo (Brazzaville).
• 01/27/2012 -- Judge calls for BP to indemnify Transocean in 2010 gulf oil spill
  BP PLC is required to indemnify drilling contractor Transocean Ltd., the owner of the Deepwater Horizon semisubmersible drilling rig, against compensatory damages in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill off Louisiana in 2010, according to US District Judge Carl Barbier of New Orleans.

  US oil and gas drilling rig activity this week remained unchanged at 2,008 total rigs working. The rig count for the week ended Jan. 27 was up by 276, however, from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
• 01/27/2012 -- API: 4Q 2011 US oil well completions top year-earlier total
  US oil drilling in fourth-quarter 2011 was up from a year earlier, the American Petroleum Institute said in its latest quarterly well completion report.
• 01/30/2012 -- Cyclic steam pilot set at Gulf of Suez Sinai oil field
  A rig is expected to arrive in February to drill development wells in Lagia oil field on the Sinai Peninsula side of Egypt’s Gulf of Suez in preparation for a cyclic steamflood pilot.

  Statoil and partners have taken a step toward development of deepwater Luva gas and condensate field in the Norwegian Sea with selection of a spar platform to handle production from wells completed subsea (OGJ Online, Mar. 18, 2009).
