  • 12/21/2012 -- US drilling rig count down 25 units to 1,774
    The US drilling rig count edged dipped by 25 units during the week ended Dec. 21, with the total number of rotary rigs reaching 1,774, Baker Hughes Inc. reported. This compares with 2,008 rigs working in the comparable week last year.
  • 12/28/2012 -- Cooper basin western flank pipelines on stream
    Oil has started to flow through pipelines linking fields held by Beach Energy and its partners to the Moomba processing facility in South Australia.
  • 12/21/2012 -- Statoil to invest in Mariner heavy oil field in UK North Sea
    Statoil said it plans to invest more than $7 billion in developing the Mariner heavy oil field in the UK North Sea, and Mariner production is expected to come on stream in 2017 pending final government approval of field development plans.

    The Centre for Global Energy Studies, London, said Russia’s oil production for 2011, which topped 2010 by a whisker, reached a record high for the post-Soviet period.
  • 01/06/2012 -- US drilling rig count unchanged at 2,007 units
    US oil and gas drilling rig activity this week was unchanged at 2,007 total rigs working. The rig count for the week ended Jan. 6 was up by 307 from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
  • 01/09/2012 -- Pennsylvania DEP fines Talisman for gas well-control incident
    The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection fined Talisman Energy USA Inc. $51,478 for a January 2011 gas well-control incident during hydraulic fracturing in Ward Township, Tioga County.
  • 01/10/2012 -- Diamond Offshore to build semi with Ocean Voyager hull
    A Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. subsidiary signed a contract with Keppel AmFELS shipyard in Brownsville, Tex., to build a moored semisubmersible drilling rig using an existing hull.
  • 01/11/2012 -- Ordovician light oil flows at Amadeus reentry
    Central Petroleum Ltd., Perth, has reported a maximum sustained flow rate of 300 b/d of 40° gravity light, sweet crude oil on a 24/64-in. choke in the western Amadeus basin of Australia.
  • 01/12/2012 -- Trafigura, ETP to direct Eagle Ford liquids storage, transport
    A Trafigura AG subsidiary acquired rail and dock terminals in Corpus Christi, Tex., and also announced an alliance with Energy Transfer Partners LP (ETP) to jointly coordinate transportation and storage of crude oil and condensate for Eagle Ford shale producers.
  • 01/13/2012 -- US drilling rig count falls 20 units to below 2,000
    US oil and gas drilling rig activity this week declined by 20 units to 1,987 total rigs working. The rig count for the week ended Jan. 13 was up by 287 from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
