Dana lets contract for Western Isles oil development

Dana Petroleum PLC, a subsidiary of the Korean National Oil Corp., let a £8 million contract to Aker Solutions for project management, engineering, procurement, and construction of several subsea systems for its Western Isles development on UK Block 210/24a.

The project will develop the Barra and Harris oil fields, which lie in 150-170 m of water, northeast of the Shetland Isles.

Dana indicates that the fields will be developed with up to five producing and four water-injection wells tied back to a new floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. Dana expects to sanction the project by yearend and bring the fields online in late 2014.

The contract with Aker Solutions includes delivery of nine subsea control modules, one master control system, one electrical power unit, one hydraulic unit, one subsea isolation valve panel, two topsides umbilical termination units, two subsea distribution units, five electrical distribution boxes, and 11 mounting bases, along with offshore installation and commissioning support.

Dana is the operator and holds a 76.92% interest in the development.
