Enterprise Products Partners LP announced a binding open season held by Skelly-Belvieu Pipeline Co. LLC, a joint venture partially owned and operated by an Enterprise affiliate, seeking shipper support for a proposed expansion of the 570-mile, 30,000 b/d Skelly-Belvieu NGL pipeline.

The system originates in Carson County, Tex., transporting Midcontinent purity NGLs to EPP’s 100-million bbl Mont Belvieu, Tex., storage facility.

Pending sufficient response, the Skelly-Belvieu expansion will add about 17,000 b/d of incremental capacity to the system, 90% of which is available in the open season. EPP will install extra pumps to add the capacity. The additional capacity could be available as soon as the fourth-quarter 2012, according to EPP.

The open season began Oct. 19 and continues Nov. 16.

EPP acquired NuStar Energy LP’s interest in the joint venture in 2008. EPP last month announced the newbuild 280,000 b/d Texas Express Pipeline, which will extend between Skellytown and Mont Belvieu, as a joint venture with Enbridge Energy Partners LP and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (OGJ Online, Sept. 6, 2011).
