Clontarf Energy PLC was awarded exploratory blocks in the Ucayali and Maranon basins.

Block 188 covers 595,809 ha near the Camisea gas-condensate fields in Ucayali. Clontarf believes the block has Camisea-type potential and is also prospective for medium-size shallower fields. The wider area has three main producing reservoirs and an undeveloped oil discovery at La Colpa.

Block 183 has 396,826 ha in the Maranon basin near oil and gas fields on Block 183. Triassic-Jurassic and Cretaceous are the main source rocks, the leads and prospects identified from reprocessed seismic include four-way closures on the Yurimaguas anticline.

Clontarf was awarded the blocks in the late 2010 bid round, and official documents were signed earlier this month.
