HOUSTON, July 25 – Norse Energy Corp. ASA, Lysaker, Norway, which holds 180,000 net acres of leases in New York, has applied to the state for high-volume hydraulic fracturing permits for wells it would drill to the Marcellus and Utica shales.
Drilling permits will not be issued until the supplemental generic environmental impact statement becomes final, but the company said it believes that it is important to have applications ready for approval once that process is completed (OGJ Online, July 11, 2011).
Norse Energy’s holdings are estimated to contain total contingent resources of 3.9 tcf of gas equivalent as of the end of 2010.
