HOUSTON, July 25
– Thorneloe Energy Colombia, adjudicated operator of the San Antonio block in Colombia’s Llanos basin in 2008, has spudded the Poyato-1 wildcat on the block, said Suroco Energy Inc., Calgary.

The well is to take 25 days to reach planned total depth of 8,720 ft and has multiple targets including the Carbonera, Guadalupe, and Une formations. It is the first well on the block and is located on a 3D seismic-defined structural closure.

Suroco has exercised its option to acquire a 28% working interest in the block. Completion of the acquisition is pending approval by Colombia’s ANH, which Suroco expects to receive in August 2011.
