HOUSTON, July 6
-- Rodinia Oil Corp., Calgary, said the Mulyawara-1 exploratory well in the Officer basin in South Australia is drilling below surface casing.

The company is using an air hammer but can switch to rotary drilling should penetration become too difficult. Total depth is expected in early August.

Mulyawara-1 is in the northwest corner of PEL 253 on a 36.3 sq km structure as identified on seven 2D seismic lines. It will be drilled vertically to an estimated 2,700 m to test five prospective Precambrian reservoir horizons: Murnaroo, Tarlina, Mundallio, Emeroo, and Pindyin, the deepest of which is the aeolian Pindyin sandstone, also called the subsalt unit (OGJ Online, June 10, 2011).
