HOUSTON, July 7 -- Production from the Appaloosa subsea completed well in the Gulf of Mexico started on June 21 through a 20-mile flowline to the Corral platform, according to operator Eni SPA. Eni said the well is flowing about 7,000 boe/d.
Appaloosa is Eni’s second field to produce to the Eni-operated Corral platform on Mississippi Canyon Block 305, which now processes about 46,600 boe/d.
Appaloosa is 60 miles off Lousiana in 2,500 ft of water.
The producing well is within the MC 459 Federal unit, consisting of MC Blocks 459, 460, and portions of 503 and 504.
The Corral platform (formally Crystal) is a conventional jacket structure in 620 ft of water. The Longhorn gas field in MC Blocks 502 and 546 started producing to the platform in 2009 (OGJ, Nov. 9, 2009, Newsletter).
Eni holds a 100% working interest in Appaloosa and a 75% interest in the Corral platform and Longhorn. Nexen Inc. holds the remaining interest in Corral and Longhorn.
