HOUSTON, June 22
– Eni Norge has awarded drilling contracts covering Goliat, first oil field in the Barents Sea off Norway, and Marulk field in the Norwegian Sea.

AGR Drilling Services will deploy its Cutting Transportation System at 22 wells to be drilled by the Scarabeo-8 semisubmersible at Goliat and two wells drilled by Scarabeo-5 in Marulk. Norway approved development of Goliat in mid-2009 (OGJ Online, July 1, 2009).

The contract is for 4 years with a 1-year optional extension.

The system enables operators to deposit drill cuttings as far as 1.24 miles from the drillsite, keeping the operating area free of debris and avoiding environmentally sensitive areas.
