HOUSTON, June 23
– San Leon Energy PLC plans an exploration and appraisal drilling program in 2012 on the Durresi block in the Adriatic off Albania.

San Leon, operator with 75% interest, said Western Geophysical is processing 840 sq km of 3D seismic shot in April 2011 and will deliver final data in the fourth quarter of 2011. Interpretation and prospect generation are to continue in the interim. Beach Energy Ltd., Adelaide, has 25% interest in the block.

The 3D seismic program is to evaluate a number of prospective structures, including the 1993 A4-1X gas-condensate discovery (see map, OGJ, Dec. 19, 2005, p. 48). A4-1x found gas and 54.3° gravity condensate in Messinian clastics at 2,500-3,100 m in 800 m of water, according to data from Albania’s National Petroleum Agency. A4-2x was abandoned at TD 3,692 m.

Beach said A4-1x has the potential to contain up to 150 bcf of gas and 38 million bbl of condensate (OGJ Online, Feb. 4, 2011).
