Vietnam: BHP spuds Nam Con Son wildcat

BHP Billiton and Mitra Energy Ltd. have spud the first well in a two-well program on blocks 28 & 29/03 in the Nam Con Son basin off southern Vietnam.

HOUSTON, May 11
– BHP Billiton and Mitra Energy Ltd. have spud the first well in a two-well program on blocks 28 & 29/03 in the Nam Con Son basin off southern Vietnam.

The Ho Vang 29/03-HV-1X well is being drilled on Block 29/03 using the Seadrill Offshore Resolute jackup. Planned total depth is 2,420 m true vertical depth subsea. The second well, Bao Dom May 28-BDM-1X, will follow to a proposed 3,325 m TVD ss.

BHP Billiton is operator of the production sharing contract and holds 50-50 interests with Mitra Energy.
