HOUSTON, May 24
– Oil Optimization Inc., Calgary, launched an environmental impact assessment on Block L14/50 in central Thailand in preparation for a 3D seismic survey on the block.

The company owns 100% interest in the 1 million acre block. It expects approval of the EIA in 90 days that will allow it to proceed with the 250 sq km survey. The 3D program is based on 2D seismic data that identified five drilling leads.

The block covers the entire northern portion of the Petchabun basin, the southern part of which has produced 8.6 million bbl of oil from proved and probable reserves of 32 million bbl at the end of 2010.
