HOUSTON, May 6 -- Statoil will develop its small Fossekall and Dompap oil discoveries in the Norwegian Sea with three subsea templates tied back to the Norne production and storage ship 26 km to the south.
The operator let a contract to Subsea 7 for marine installations and pipelaying for the development, which is part of Statoil’s fast-track program for small fields off Norway (OGJ, Apr. 4, 2011, Newsletter).
Statoil said the decision to develop Fossekall made development of Dompap possible. It estimates total reserves at 100 million boe, mostly oil.
Fossekall, a 2010 discovery, lies in 352 m of water on Production License 128. The discovery well bottomed at 2,749 m below sea level in the Are formation, proving oil in that formation as well as in Ile and Tofte strata and gas in the Melke formation, all Jurassic.
Statoil reported the smaller Dompap discovery to the north of Flssekall in 2009. A well drilled to 3,158 m below sea level in 334 m of water proved an oil column of 110 m in the Are formation.
Statoil, operator of the Fossekall-Dompap development, holds a 64% interest. Partners are Petoro, 24.5%, and Eni SPA, 11.5%.
