HOUSTON, May 27
– Heavy oil production at the Grassy Creek and Marmaton projects at Deerfield, Mo., has averaged 60 b/d for the past 6 months and has been as high as 125 b/d, said MegaWest Energy Corp., Calgary.

Combined production averaged 40 b/d in November 2010, 58 b/d in December, 63 b/d in January 2011, 55 b/d in February, 66 b/d in March, and 77 b/d in April.

The company expects the production trends to increase as heating patterns continue to expand and as new technologies that are being tested are incorporated into the production and operational strategy.

New test patterns have been permitted, and drilling began in early April 2011. The new pattern will incorporate all lessons learned from prior completions, geology, and production history. MegaWest expects to see results of the new patterns near the end of May 2011 as the patterns are heated up.
