HOUSTON, May 18 – Saratoga Resources Inc., Houston, has performed two recompletions and one workover in South Louisiana since Apr. 1, resulting in gross initial production rates of 986 b/d of oil and 397 Mcfd of gas.
The Moncla 102 rig that undertook the recompletion and workover at Main Pass 25 field is on location at Breton Sound 32 field recompleting the State Lease 1227 O-1 well. A second workover rig is arriving in Grand Bay field to start a four-well recompletion program, a drilling rig is under contract to drill in Breton Sound 51 field, and permitting has begun for three wells in Vermilion 16 field.
The S.L. 20436-1 Catina well is to spud in July in Breton Sound Block 51 to target normally pressured Upper Miocene Uvigerina 3 sand at 10,000 ft. Proved undeveloped reserves on the lease reflected in the company’s 2010 reserve report are 422,000 bbl of oil and 551 MMcf of gas. The Hess S.L. 17245-1 well produced 671,000 bbl and 841 MMcf from the same sand from April 2002 until August 2005 when shut-in after Hurricane Katrina.
The rig will then drill the S.L. 20435-1 Rio Grande well in Breton Sound 50 to target the same normally-pressured Uvigerina 3 sand and a shallower amplitude.
The three Vermilion 16 wells are to spud within 18 months. One well will target normally pressured Lower Miocene Rob-L to Operc sands in a previously untested fault block, another will target geopressured Lower Miocene Gyro sands in the hanging wall, and the third will target geopressured Lower Miocene Marg A sands in the footwall.
