HOUSTON, May 3
-- KBR will provide detailed engineering for two wellhead platforms central to third-phase development of Hess Denmark’s South Arne oil field in the Danish North Sea.

The firm was named subcontractor by Dragados Offshore SA, which holds an engineering, procurement, and construction contact for topsides weighing 1,600 tons and 1,350 tons, jackets weighing 2,600 tons each, and other services.

In addition to detailed engineering, KBR will provide procurement assistance and engineering assistance through construction and installation.

The field, in 60 m of water, produced about 18,700 b/d of oil and 26.2 MMscfd of gas with 11,500 b/d of water early last year (OGJ Online, Mar. 26, 2010). Oil flows into a subsea storage tank for offloading into a tanker. Gas enters a pipeline to Jutland.

One of the new wellhead platforms will be bridge-linked to the existing wellhead, processing, and accommodation platform. The other will be installed about 2.5 km away.
